The
Texas State Legislature named Lockhart as "The
Barbecue Capitol of Texas". Texas Monthly Magazine
said "Smitty's
Market" is among the best in the state. Black's
Barbecue is known worldwide and Chisholm Trail Barbecue
rounds out the city's barbecue royalty. We also have
Kreutz
Market and
Chisholm Trail BBQ.
Lockhart
is a bedroom community to Austin and is located about
30 miles south and 60 miles northeast of San Antonio.
Lockhart has small town quality of life (population
13,670), but close to the conveniences of the bigger
cities.
Lockhart
has many annual events you can view here on the Lockhart
Chamber website. We also have interesting historic
sites you can visit.
The
Lockhart ISD has an excellent reputation as one
of the best school districts in the area. Which attracts
many families to the area.
